Topic: Choosing a Retirement Solution for Your Small Business
Speaker: Lisa Sromek
Interested in establishing a retirement plan for you and your employees, but aren’t sure which plan design fits your needs? EBSA’s Choosing a Retirement Solution for Your Small Business will assist small business owners in making this decision. This presentation will help small businesses and plan service providers understand the types of retirement plans available, the tax benefits and consequences of each, along with the federal laws governing these types of plans.
Lisa Sromek is part of a team of eight Benefits Advisors in the Chicago Regional Office for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). She has worked in this role since 2004, providing compliance assistance and outreach to employers and plan officials, in addition to assisting participants in obtaining benefits and understanding their rights under various federal laws, including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA and ACA. Lisa serves as the Agency’s liaison for several U.S. Congressional Offices in Illinois, providing assistance in responding to constituent inquiries. She also lobbied for and participated in the translation of the first official Polish-language EBSA consumer publication on protecting retirement and health care benefits after job loss.
